ZABARMARI ATTACK: Senate president leads FG’s delegation to storm Borno

A high powered delegation from the federal government led by the senate president, Sen. Ahmed Lawan are in to commensurate on the farmers killed by terrorists.
A total of 67 bodies were buried as of Monday morning, the Borno state commissioner of information, Babakura Abba Jatau has confirmed.
The 67 farmers from Zabarmari ward of Jere Local Area of Borno were slaughtered on Saturday morning.
‘His Excellency president Muhammadu has sent this deligation to come and commiserate with you and people of Borno over the senseless and barbaric killing of our farmers,’ the senate president said.
He said the president would love to be personally here, assuring his commitment in fighting the insurgency.
He added that govemment will ensure support the military and improve bilateral relationships with neighbouring countries.
‘There is nothing more important than protecting the lives of the citizens, any other thing is secondary,’ the senate president noted.
Furthermore he said, the armed forces are given a matching order to take the fight to the insurgency until they are completely wiped out of the country.
On behalf of the deligation, the minister of digital communications and information, Dr. Isa Ali Fantami prayed for the deceased.
Babagana Umara while thanking the federal government for their visit and support, recommended the following to the

  1. Ensure the immediate recruitment of youths in the state into military and paramilitary to supplement the efforts on the Nigerian military.

  2. Engage neighbouring countries

  3. Engage machinery to clear sambisa

  4. Provide police and military with armed resistant motor carriers.

  5. Ensure the repatriation of internally displaced persons in Cameroon back home

  6. To increase means of livelihood the the people of Borno

To the national assembly
Zulum said only N45 billion was budgeted and allocated to the North East, with such, peace will be a nightmare in this region. ‘We are demanding for justice, fairness and equity.’
The deligation consisted of the deputy governor of Yobe, the chief of staff to the President, the national security advisor, ministers, members of the national assembly among others.
