There was tension among residents of Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa local government of ondo state as they sighted about forty five groups of northerners dumped from trucks on Thursday evening.
Our correspondent reports that the incident occurred around 9’o clock in Okitipupa while the reason for their sudden arrive at night has not been ascertained.
It was gathered that the herdsmen were dumped around the army barracks in Okitipupa but were not allowed in by the army authority.
It was gathered that many residents who hurriedly closed their business for the fear of any unforseen incident.
Reacting ,the chairman, Okitipupa local government , Mr Igbekele Akinrinwa who was Addressing people At the scene which attracted many residents , alleged that it was a native of the town that facilitated the travellers trip to the town.
Akinrinwa said the man had been apprehended by the state’s security corps , Amotekun.
He however asked the people of Okitipupa local government to remain calm as the visitors would be moved to Akure the state’s capital for further security checks and investigation.
