Rector, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, Dr. Lateef Olatunji has expressed satisfaction in the visitation panel set up by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Education to all Federal Polytechnics across the country.
The visitation team to the federal polytechnic chaired by Professor Duro Oni in the company of six other members assured the entire staff of the Polytechnic of equality and representation.
Prof. Oni reiterates the core mandate of the panel as one that is devoid of witch hunting and not an avenue to settle old grudges within the system.
He stated that the purpose of setting up the panel is to look into the areas facing set back in the Polytechnic system and make recommendation for the betterment of all the Polytechnics in Nigeria.
He said, “the mandate of the panel as directed by the Honorable Minister of education is not to witch hunt anyone in the Polytechnic or settle old grudges. ,The purpose of the panel is to look into the areas facing set back in the Polytechnic system and make recommendation for the betterment of all the Polytechnics in Nigeria.
The Professor however charged the polytechnic community to present a memoranda to the panel regarding any complaint and assured that all sides would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
The Rector, federal polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Ademola in his remark appreciates the Federal government for setting up administrators and adept educationists as member of the visitation team to the Polytechnic, adding that the combination of such great minds will help in bringing positive change to the polytechnic sector in Nigeria.
Dr. Olatunji stated that there is a problem in the Polytechnic sector and it has not been taken care of like University counterpart thereby appealing to the visitation panel to hint the government for necessary action to improve the Polytechnics in Nigeria.
He said, “The Polytechnic sector have suffered and we know that the government has done a lot for the University sector. I hereby to appeal that your visit should assist this sector, not only in this Polytechnic but all over where the visitation panels are being established,”
Dr. Olatunji on behalf of the polytechnic Management team assured the panel of maximum cooperation and support of the Polytechnic in every regards.
