This comes just 24 hours after reports surfaced that Abubakar Shekau, the spiritual leader of Boko Haram, had named a new War Commander.
Kanamma is approximately 200 kilometers from Damturu, the capital of Yobe State in northeast Nigeria. It’s also where the Boko Haram insurgency began in the state.
Residents say that prior to the assault, they saw some Boko Haram fighters but were afraid to report them.
ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yobe Police Command Damaturu confirmed the attack to DAILY POST.
He said, there was a Boko Haram insurgents attack on Kanamma, but unfortunately, they lost contact with Police in Kanamma due to the absence of mobile network in the area.
“We will update you when we reach out to them,” he said.
