Biography of Chief of Army Staff Ibrahim Attahiru

Ibrahim Attahiru (born August 10, 1966) is a Nigerian Army Major General and Chief of Army Staff of Republic of , appointed by Muhammadu on 26 January, 2021.
Attahiru was born in Doka, North Local Area, Kaduna State.
He started his officer cadet training at Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in January 1984 as part of the NDA Regular Course 35. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Nigerian Army in December 1986 and later attended the Armed Forces Command and Staff College and Nigerian Army School of Infantry.
In September 2000 he was a United Nations military observer for the British Army Operation Barras in Sierra Leone. He also served as an Operations Officer and later Company Commander in NIBATT 19 ECOMOG Operations in Liberia.
Attahiru was Theatre Commander for Operation Lafiya Dole (the Nigerian military’s counter insurgency operation) until he was relieved from the position in 2017 for alleged incompetence.
He was General Officer Commanding 82 Division of Nigerian Army, Enugu prior to his appointment as Chief of Army Staff.
